Free zones become a development pole for the community in where they are located, since they generate jobs due to investment made in these territories, mainly by natural and legal persons from abroad, and With this, new technologies are brought that mark the growth of the populations where they are located, becoming the instrument to improve their quality of life and achieve regional development, due to the economic and social impact generated by investment, technology transfer and job creation. Special permanent free zones with industrial operators and agroindustrial plants in the areas of the regions of Antioquia, Boyacá, Huila, Meta and Santander, are dedicated to export activity as an attractive formula for investment, which is seductive for companies due to the benefits customs duties that the free regime entails, and that represents for the country a increased competitiveness through technology transfer and the creation of new Job positions. The use of the free regime as a focus of permanent development has been become an object of study in Colombia, since it has suffered great transformations in order to take advantage of the potential of the economy, the benefits and opportunities that the establishment of companies, and mainly because of the desire to know if it actually impacts societies in a positive way in terms of job creation.
