Resumen
The development of the work consists of analyzing the design and mobility criteria of the roundabouts on 69th and 77th streets with Ambala avenue located within the urban area of the city of Ibagué, department of Tolima. Therefore, it is necessary to verify whether the level of traffic and the geometry of the roundabouts meet the criteria set forth in the technical specifications of the INVIAS standard. Additionally, the state of both vertical and horizontal traffic signs and the state of the pavement and its drainage condition were evaluated. Therefore, to evaluate public perception regarding the issue of mobility and road safety in the study roundabouts, a survey was carried out for a total of 400 inhabitants, of which drivers, pedestrians, passers-by and residents participated. For their respective analysis, it was necessary to implement the finite population equation, taking into account a confidence level of 95% and a probability of success and failure of 50%. The vehicular flow or level of service shows the importance and the requirement of the road infrastructure in the roundabouts of study for the city of Ibagué, which registered a total of 32,469 Automobiles, 1,411 Buses, 6,002 Trucks and 964 trucks. The categories of buses are comprised of both inter-municipal and urban and the trucks that were registered in the study sector were of type C2, C3 and C4. Based on the results of the vehicle gauges, an estimated type two (NT2) traffic level was determined for the 77th street roundabout and type three (NT3) for the 69th street roundabout, both with Ambala avenue, which allows us reveal the load requirement that the road supports. The preliminary diagnosis of the signs allowed to determine its functionality with respect to the current traffic and its demands regarding the mobility of the area; which it was determined that the existing signs present damages that obstruct visibility and in some points it was determined the absence of vertical and horizontal signs that are essential to guarantee road safety in the study sector. Additionally, the drainage condition was evaluated under visual auscultation, where factors such as the state of the sumps, topography, suitable catchment and pumping elements necessary to avoid phenomena such as hydroplaning on the road were determined. Finally, in view of the problems presented in the sector due to the high accident rates, loss of time, decrease in quality of life and not complying with the admissible capacity for each roundabout, a new roundabout was determined as a possible solution. , with expansion to 3 effective lanes in the exit branches and reduction of the island, which contributes to an active and convenient vehicular flow for the admissible capacity of 2531 and 3319 vehicles per hour, for the roundabout of Calle 69 and 77 de Ambala avenue respectively.
