Resumen
This project aims to contribute to the mitigation of the environmental pollution generated by plastic due to its slow degradation, the purpose of this project is to give an efficient use to this material, transforming it into a useful element in engineering. In order to carry out this process it was necessary to collect recovered plastic (PET, PP and HDPE) that is usually used in elements such as bottles, detergent containers, etc. However, this type of waste doesn’t have an adequate final disposal, so this project focuses mainly on the use of this type of waste. Also, thanks to the environmental collection programs of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, it was possible to collect a large amount of containers quickly. Once the raw material was collected, we proceeded to design the ADOPLAS articulated pavement prototype (cobblestone). Next, the raw material was crushed and melted in order to alter its state, allowing the material to be moldable and thus be able to elaborate the prototype, which was subjected to a series of tests, in order to evaluate its physical and mechanical capabilities to finally determine if the element can be implemented in an ecological pedestrian path, which is projected for the academic community of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, El Salado headquarters.
