Resumen
Economic convergence is associated with the ability of a group of countries to move towards common macroeconomic indicators, equal production structures and similar living standards. In Latin America there are three integration processes with theo-retical-conceptual clarity about the importance and need to deepen regional agreements and, at the same time, with dissimilar positions regarding the possibility of coordinating macroeconomic policies. The aim of this chapter is to analyze the convergence of eco-nomic policies in Latin American integration. To this end, it identifies the progress made in macroeconomic policy convergence by the Central American Integration System (sica), the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), and the Pacific Alliance (pa). The chapter rec-ognize the results obtained by each integration process in its effort to achieve economic policy convergence. Finally, it analyzes the theoretical and practical relevance of common macroeconomic policies in Latin American integration. It is concluded that the region did not show cooperative efforts and it was identified a lack of coordination and temporary inconsistency in sica and Mercosur. Regarding the ap regional, the region avoided the commitments made in terms of economic policy coordination.
