Introduction: breastfeeding as a feeding technique represents the best way to provide the necessary and complete nutrients for the growth and development of the child, in addition to creating the affective bond for life, so it is recommended during the first 6 months of life and its maintenance as complementary feeding up to two years or more; It is important to provide support to the mother and her child during the process, support that can come from family environments led by the mother's partner and a health environment, guided by the nursing professional who is mainly in charge of promoting and guiding breastfeeding. . It is important that the nursing professional be trained and trained to create and implement interventions to achieve effective breastfeeding, through Woman and Child Friendly strategies and institutions, in such a way that adequate actions can be established to guarantee breastfeeding. exclusive and effective. Methodology: this literature review was carried out during the period between 2010 and 2020. The online databases Proquest, Scielo, Redalyc, Dialnet, Sciendirect, Elsevier, Academic Google, WHO, PAHO, UNICEF will be used; using the following search terms: lactation, underweight, newborn, infant. The search is complemented by specific queries to certain Internet web pages. Results: important educational strategies were found to promote exclusive breastfeeding, with the necessary information for women in the process of breastfeeding, in order to improve the bond, nutrition, attachment and psychological and motor development of children; as well as the presence of benefits generated by the educational interventions carried out by the nursing staff, one of these benefits being the significant way of initiation and the exclusivity of breast milk. Conclusion: It was possible to identify the benefits generated by educational strategies during the promotion of breast milk, manifesting as support interventions, thus seeking to promote and favor an adequate beginning and exclusive continuity of breast milk within the first 6 months of lifetime; in addition, and the multiple existing educational strategies, with which it is sought to promote exclusive breastfeeding.
