Resumen
The mare is seasonal polyestric, this means that her estrous cycle occurs depending on the photoperiod, said estrous cycle is controlled by the behavior of hormones. Hormones are released by the hypothalamus, which is responsible for the general regular reproduction of animals. These are widely used by veterinarians around the world and in various indications. The use of hormones can be divided into therapeutic use and another in which hormones are used to interfere with the physiological function of normal animals, regulation of reproduction or to improve production. Fertility in the mare is often associated with one or more of the common diseases or conditions that affect the reproductive tract. These diseases can cause fertilization failure, early embryo loss, or abortion. Hormone therapy in the mare is used primarily to induce and control the start of the breeding season, schedule natural matings by inducing oestrus and ovulation, delay or suppress oestrus and its behavior. The use of hormones in the therapy of certain reproductive pathologies has also been documented. These pathologies have a direct influence on reproduction and occur very often on farms; most of these are ovarian in origin (persistent anovulatory follicle, granulosa cell tumor), endometritis, placentitis, retention of fetal membranes, and dropsy of fetal membranes.
