According to the world health organization (WHO), cancer is a process of uncontrolled growth and dissemination of cells and this can appear practically anywhere in the body, one of the factors to increase the presence of cancer in the body is the cigarette that contains a large number of additives; that cause health alterations, even death to half of its users. For 2013, the National Cancer Institute (INC) in Colombia, shows results in relation to the incidence of cancer and hinders the normal function of the body, tumor suppressor genes are also dedicated to controlling growth and cell division and one of these is the LDOC1 gene; you may be affected by this factor, causing you to mute. The objective of this study is to determine the methylation status of the LDOC1 gene in severe smokers, which was carried out through a descriptive study where the chosen population was severe smokers, where saliva samples were obtained from each patient. The expected results for this study is the generation and social appropriation of knowledge and to determine the degree of methylation of the LDOC1 gene.
