Frecuencia y tendencia de la nueva terminología diagnostica en endodoncia, en Colombia entre el año 2010-2020.

Abstract

Introduction: Endodontics is a specialty of dentistry that is responsible for maintaining the dental pulp in a state of health and treating it in a state of disease. Their diagnoses allow establishing the existence of various pathologies for their subsequent treatment. These diagnoses were updated by the American Endodontic Association in 2009, being implemented worldwide by students and professionals in their clinical practice. The objective of this research was to determine the trend of the frequency and use of the old and new diagnostic terminology endodontics in Colombia between the years 2010-2020. Methods: Integrative-critical monograph, the trend and frequency of the old and new diagnostic terminology in endodontics was evaluated. An extensive scientific-literary review was carried out in the different databases of the Cooperative University of Colombia. 18 articles were analyzed between 2010-2020, through a critical reading, a bibliographic matrix was prepared in Microsoft Excel with information organized, chronologically and sequentially. Results: A frequency was evidenced between 2010 to 2015 where 75% corresponds to the old terminology and 35% to the new terminology. Between 2015 and 2020, 85% corresponds to the new terminology and 15% corresponds to the old terminology. Conclusions: A greater trend was determined for the new terminology in Colombia between 2010 and 2020, there is no evidence of a significant difference in the frequency and use of both terminologies.
