This report seeks to present the results of the social practice process carried out in the Medical Society of Santa Marta S.A.S. Prado Clinic, where it was primarily sought to help the institution meet its main objective of providing a qualified health service that meets the needs of the Santa Marta community. Specifically, such participation was made through accompaniment in the epidemiology service, making the respective surveillance of events of public health interest, especially cases of perinatal deaths and maternal deaths. With the adoption of this position, different functions are also appropriated, such as analysis of cases of perinatal and maternal death, report of the results of said study, notification of cases to the National Public Health Surveillance System SIVIGILA and confrontation with the Secretary of Health, where the relevant findings are exposed, such as the causes of the deaths analyzed, in addition to the actions taken by the institution to guarantee an appropriate intervention and the delays that all the institutions involved had, including the Health Promoting Entity involved. depending on the case. Finally, it was possible to conclude that the social practice process was more than satisfactory, providing knowledge and experiences that finally achieved the necessary training to exercise epidemiology in a suitable and competent way, especially for the management of cases of perinatal and maternal mortality, since It should not be ignored that they are among the most prevalent global health burdens.
