Introduction: Fluorine, a chemical element with the highest concentration in water, in dentistry is a preventive method against caries, in turn the ion (F) has generated great problems due to high doses in the water of some municipalities of the Antioquia department for Lack of drinking water; This leads to diseases such as dental-skeletal fluorosis; and its relationship with low IQ. Materials and methods: An observational and cross-sectional study was carried out secondary to a multicenter project, the sample was of 21 children aged between 8 to 12 years, the following inclusion criteria were evaluated: Children aged 8 to 12 years who are studying currently in the Educational Institution, informed consent by the parents; Children with diagnosed neurological disorders and children with cognitive disabilities were excluded; A survey with sociodemographic data was conducted, followed by an initial evaluation of the subjects to determine the presence of dental fluorosis by means of the TFI index, likewise the IQ was evaluated by means of the Raven test. Results: The Raven Test revealed that 8 children were at a low level, 13 at a medium level and none were at a high level of intelligence. Conclusion: It was demonstrated with the Raven test that there is a difference in the degree of intelligence of the children, showing low and medium levels of IQ, it was determined that the TFI code with the highest presence was 03, it means presence of white lines and scattered opaque areas on the tooth surface, showing that high concentrations of fluoride affect the IQ of children and adolescents.
