Patellar luxation is one of the most common causes of lameness in the dog. Both large and small breed dogs may be affected. Radiographic evaluation of and canine patella is an important diagnostic tool that is frequently performed in order to identify possible radiological findings. There is talk of dislocation of the patella in dogs, when the patella, a small bone located in front of the knee joint and that its correct position is necessary for a good functioning of the limb of the animal, it leaves its site, trochlea, provoking pain and functional weakness in the dog. It is a pathology that is characterized by a bad alignment of the limb, deformations occur during the development of the animal, which cause the kneecap to slip out of place. It may be due to a congenital disease or, in some cases, due to trauma.
