The purpose of this research corresponds to the review of the legal development of Midwifery in Colombia. For this, a qualitative methodology has been implemented in which a historical and documentary review was carried out, taking into account some guidelines such as: history, the birth of Midwifery, the analysis of comparative law in Colombia since 1914, in Spain since 1978 and in Mexico since 1917. A recount was also made of international regulations against the pronouncements of organizations: such as the UN, the WHO, the ILO, the NGOs, the UNFPA and the PAHO. After that, it was investigated and deepened in the national regulations regarding the legal framework that protects the practice of Midwifery in Colombia, identifying its antecedents and evolution. In turn, a comparative table was projected between these countries, developing the legal, doctrinal and jurisprudential part of each one. With respect to the information consigned in the present work, the correlation of categories from Medicine is revealed; accessories with those of health, Nursing and Midwifery, its weighting and tutelage
