Resumen
This work was carried out in the research axis of Research and Communication Technologies (ICT), where it is addressed, through multiple documentary sources, the way in which a Facebook profile becomes a message that communicates a virtual identity, making use of the communication theories of the theorist Harold Lasswell and Marshall Mcluhan. The former studies the content itself as the result of the different factors that compose it and the latter says that the medium is the message. Two categories of analysis were chosen, the first being the functions of the message itself and the second being the way in which identities interact on Facebook. The results of these categories were that identity is a construction, as well as a recovery and a reaffirmation of identity, and that it occurs with legal practices, which project the way of thinking or believing of a user. Also the exhibition of images and photos, which represent the idealization of the form, of the personal appearance. All this is possible with the use of Facebook tools that allow users to be artists of their own virtual image.
