Resumen
Poultry production systems are subjected to different practices that significantly reduce the welfare of birds, the following work seeks to find alternatives that improve the welfare on parameters of heart rate variability and mortality of hens using an alternative supplementation such as humic substances and / or calcium carbonate, Humic substances (SH) as a supplement in animal feed, are considered a clean alternative to improve zootechnical, physiological, immunological and stress response parameters that reflect better animal welfare according to publications in the Last two decades. In this work 144 Hy Line Brown laying hens were submitted at 54 weeks of age in a completely random design in the experimental farm of the Cooperative University of Colombia, the birds were distributed in 4 groups each with 36 hens and divided into 12 experimental units (EU) where in each EU there were 3 hens. The first group (T1) negative control was supplemented with a commercial concentrate with the nutritional requirements for peak posture, the second group (T2) positive control supplemented with 2g CaCO3 bird / day, the third group (T3) was supplemented with 0, 2% SH bird / day, the fourth group (T4) 0.2% SH + 2g CaCO3 bird / day, in all cases, the birds were fed with concentrated posture phase and water ad libitum with automatic drinker. The low frequency / high frequency ratio (LF / HF) and the square root of the ss intervals (RMSSD) were evaluated by electrocardiogram (ECG) in laying hens to determine parameters of heart rate variability and mortality, with a result in which no significant differences were found between the diets of the experimental groups according to the data collected at the end of the experiment, Therefore, it is inferred that the autonomic nervous system is in sympathetic-vagal balance, and the RMSSD confirms it since there was no significant increase in parasympathetic on the cardiovascular system and also the results of the frequency domain in relation to BF / AF indicate that there was no increase in the relationship indicating a sympathetic domain or a decrease that would indicate a parasympathetic domain.
