Resumen
Canine ehrlichiasis is a highly frequent disease in the tropics, caused by the rickettsia Ehrlichia canis, it is transmitted by the Rhipicephalus sanguineus tick. In dogs that suffer from it, it can occur acutely, subacute and chronically. In all three phases, symptoms such as fever, prostration, splenomegaly, anemia, and thrombocytopenia are observed. In the case of the chronic form, progressive weight loss, pale mucous membranes and slight mucosal hemorrhages prevail. The alterations in the hemogram of patients positive for E. canis are diverse and in most cases are suggestive of the disease. Thrombocytopenia, anemia, leukopenia-leukocytosis can be found and their correct analysis collaborates in the diagnosis and treatment. The objective of this work is to determine the variables that occur in patients with canine ehrlichiasis through clear and updated information that leads to collaborate with decision-making in patients suffering from the disease.
