Resumen
Introduction: Entrepreneurship in Colombia is critical for university graduates, as a desire for economic improvement in the prospect of earning income above the salary proposed by employers, and the possibility of mobilizing creative capacity linked to high unemployment. Objective: To determine the frequency, characterization and associated factors of entrepreneurship in graduates of the faculty of dentistry of the Cooperative University of Colombia headquarters Medellin. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted, with 110 graduates from the faculty of dentistry applying a structured survey in digital format. Results: 47.54% of graduates have had productive projects. Most of the ventures are in the area the dental clinical area by 70% and for 30% are in the commercial area, in the gastronomic sector and in consulting companies. The desire for independence and higher income are the main reasons for entrepreneurship, most graduates acquired skills outside the University. Conclusion: The entrepreneurial vocation is not fully established. It is necessary to include in the curriculum, training on business management so that graduates can succeed in the creation of companies. Financial institutions, the state and universities are required to facilitate access to credit and support the financing of dental projects.
