Resumen
At the time of doing veterinary practices, the risk where the students were exposed are constant. The objectives of this job were to identify the occupational risks factors implicit in the practical activities of the students as to check the sociodemographic variables as to determine the frequency of the event and the jobs for all the students. A survey was made to the students that were coursing Veterinary and Zootechnics on the 7, 8, 9, and 10 semester from the University Cooperativa de Colombia in Bucaramanga and Arauca. 120 surveys were collected (representing 40.1%); the average age was 23.8 years (ranged from 19.0 to 42.0 years); 71 women (59.1%) and 49 men (40.9%) answered the survey, according to students of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics production perceived wildlife management as the highest risk, pork production as medium risk and poultry production as a low risk. The highest frequency according to the activities was the manipulation of abortions, followed by surgery as a low perception. The most frequent reports accidents are scratches by animals, followed by falls or slips and the least frequent accident is related to the risk in itinere. The more frequent accidents form the students were contusion, bruise, sharp wounds and allergic reactions. Between others the most affected areas in the human body, we can see that are the upper extremities as they represent the majority of accidents also students consider exposure to X-ray equipment to be a high risky. It is concluded that the students of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics. should be adequately trained regarding the attitude that they should take when they are carrying on with practical activities. For the end I would like to add that determinating the frequency of work events, the institution can take the necessary measurements to improve and avoid risks and accidents for the future students.
