Resumen
With the development of this work, it is intended to identify the leadership competencies that five (5) leaders of the Barrancabermeja, Santander district possess in times of COVID-19; which allow them to stand out in the secondary and tertiary economic sectors, mainly in cleaning, disinfection, metalworking, food and manufacturing activities. The focused case study is based on a descriptive research, under a qualitative method approach whose applied instrument is an interview, where the use of the proposed leadership competencies in the specific objectives of the research is identified and validated. Likewise, other competencies and strategies implemented during the emergency are evidenced in order to recognize those of leadership based on them. The research revealed a close relationship between the competencies of leaders (leadership, teamwork, effective communication, ability to adapt to changes, emotional intelligence and creativity) in relation to business success in times of crisis; however, other key skills could be demonstrated in these leaders to adapt their products, processes and services to the new economic reality.
