Resumen
Trypanosoma cruzi, is a flagellated protozoan, which in turn multiplies within the affected cells, the infection can occur in humans or animals such as dogs, cats, among other species. This parasite is the etiological agent of a zoonotic infection commonly known as Chagas disease, this disease is mainly transmitted by a triatomine vector, causing skin lesions, such as chagomas in its acute phase and deaths in its chronic phase. The objective of the present work is to carry out a bibliographic review on the infection by Trypanosoma cruzi in canines and Chagas disease in humans. To obtain the articles, scientific databases such as ScienceDirect, PubMed, ProQuest, Scopus and SciELO were used, using keywords such as: Trypanosoma, triatomino, Chagas; Inquiry was limited to the English and Spanish languages where published articles from human and animal studies between 2007-2018 were included. It is concluded the need to continue to carry out studies periodically and to instill in veterinary doctors that infection with Trypanosoma cruzi in canines can generate clinical manifestations similar to those generated during infection in humans.
