Resumen
The situation that we are going through worldwide due to the Covid 19 pandemic has considerably affected all aspects at a global level; from the social, economic, political, but with greater force in the health of the population. In this order of ideas and knowing the magnitude of the health situation, the students of cohort 14 of the specialty of Epidemiology of the Cooperative University of Colombia collaborated with the Magdalena Department of Health to carry out field epidemiology research and Direct and indirect data capture of probable or confirmed Covid 19 patients and their close contacts. The process was carried out as follows: weekly patient assignment by the guardian of the epidemiological surveillance area of the Ministry of Health, calls, interviews, data collection, typing of epidemiological records, tables of close contacts and timeline; These tools are of great help to the Ministry's research team and allow the figures of new cases to be known, by monitoring positive patients who are treated at home or in healthcare centers. In addition, field epidemiological research makes it possible to inquire about the clinical symptoms of the disease, from asymptomatic patients and in the worst case death, to know its sociodemographic aspects and is useful for the development of new policies aimed at containment, spread and decline of the virus; These are especially aimed at vulnerable populations such as health workers and the elderly.
