Resumen
Salmonellosis is a disease of great global importance, it is a zoonosis with a great impact on international public health. Its transmission in animals occurs directly through the oro-fecal route or indirectly through food. Consumption of contaminated meat, milk, and eggs has been associated with human transmission. It is necessary to identify and confirm the presence of salmonella in pigs as they play a leading role in the epidemiology of the disease. The purpose of this review is to describe the diagnostic tests available to detect the presence of salmonellosis in pigs, such as PCR (polymerase chain reaction), ELISA and CULTURES in selective and differential media, which are the most used methods for the detection of salmonellosis in pig farms, whose prevalence is associated with the development of microbial resistance.
