Resumen
Hemotropics (Babesia spp., Anaplasma spp. And Trypanosoma spp.) Are organisms that can be transmitted to domestic and wild animals by mechanical and biological vectors, their infection produces hematological alterations that affect the health of their hosts. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the frequency of hemotropic agents in Cuniculus paca specimens in the municipality of Saravena (Arauca), Colombia. For this, a total of seven specimens were sampled in captive conditions. The samples were obtained from the saphenous vein and processed using the Wrigth and hemacolor technique. In general, an infection frequency of 14% (1/7) was obtained for Anaplasma spp., While for the other species of hemotropic agents it was null. The results obtained show a low frequency of infection by hemotropic agents in Cuniculus paca, kept in captivity. Future research with more sensitive and specific laboratory tests that determine the actual frequency of these infectious agents in these hosts is recommended.
