Several factors help the progression of the disease and its malignancy. In Colombia the prevalence of premalignant lesions corresponds to a 4% according to ENSAB IV of oral diseases. Materials and methods: A clinical examination was carried out on the patients, determined the type of injury, it’s anatomical location and the factors associated to this. 350 patients participated. Results: Premalignant lesions were predominant in males, predominant layer was the middle, the most frequent injuries were the leukoplakia type, it’s highest frequency was from 40 to 69 years, the most compromised anatomical areas were gums and cheeks. 58.4% were tobacco users, 75% manifested alcohol consumption. Discussion: The most frequent premalignant lesions were leukoplakia and erictroplasia, different from that reported by J. Gheno, where they related the frequency of premalignant lesions with socio-demographic aspectsIt can be seen that in the present study, the sex that presented the greatest premalignant lesions was the male, unlike the Speight P. and Col. were women with an average of 50 years had a greater frequency of injuries. Conclusions: The frequency of premalignant lesions was 6.8%. Leukoplakia was the lesion that presented with the highest percentage. The male sex was predominant in the percentage of premalignant lesions in the sample studied.
