Colombia is a country characterized by having certain limitations in regard to the academic training of students of basic and secondary education, some of these are related to the pedagogical practices proposed by educational institutions and by teachers, but there are also factors such as the difficulty of educating a large number of students and sometimes the contents of each course can be difficult to transmit, which means that there are no spaces for the appropriation of citizenship competences. In this article the importance is presented that they have the training and the strengthening in citizen competitions so that the current and future generations are able to deal not only with problems of their educational environment, but also with tasks related to their daily life. In addition, it is hoped that in this way it will be possible to train individuals capable of acting in a fair, democratic and empathetic manner within society, taking into account the fact that citizenship competencies are not only a series of cognitive skills, but also that They are behavioral and emotional, which allow a better understanding of the value and respect that other people deserve.
