This paper seeks to analyze the influence of anxiety on the academic performance of university students, in order to identify the different factors that influence the academic performance of students who perform in this context. In the same way, by means of the present systematic review of the literature, an attempt was made to respond to the general and specific objectives set forth. To achieve this, a thorough analysis of different theoretical articles that allowed expanding knowledge regarding these aspects was indispensable; addressing psychosocial, emotional, motivational factors, test anxiety, physical symptoms and cognitive responses, among others. This allowed analyzing the present dynamics from different angles in order to establish reliable and necessary information that would allow determining the level of influence exerted between both variables. This theoretical journey is considered important since it will allow the pertinent and necessary information to be provided to the teaching and administrative staff in order to take measures to improve the situation, since statistics reflect the importance of this problem in the academic field within the university context.
