Resumen
The objective of the following article is to describe the characteristics of cognitive abilities that make up emotional intelligence in students from the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Faculty of Psychology. The interest that has led us to carry out this work focuses on the importance that emotional intelligence has gained in recent years. Various studies demonstrate the importance of developing emotional competencies in the educational context, and even more so in a university context. By means of a quantitative approach, the aim is to measure the level of emotional intelligence (emotional attention, clarity of feelings and emotional reparation), using the self-report test TMMS-24 by Fernández Berrocal, Extremera and Ramos (2004). It is intended that it be continued later, the results obtained will allow us to affirm significant differences and determine what level of emotional control the students of the Cooperative University of Colombia have, a faculty of Psychology.
