Heat synchronization in cattle is an important event to improve reproductive efficiency in cattle particularly whose depends on artificial insemination. Knowledge advances on female's physiology, permits the use of exogenous hormones (progesterone, prostaglandin F2α, gonadotropin-releasing hormone, equine chorionic gonadotropin, estrogens, and others) allowing estrous cycle govern, and a subsequent development of fixed time artificial insemination (FTAI) protocols. These protocols evolved over time from a single hormonal use, to conjugation of several hormones at different times, constituting a complex protocols with high efficiency levels. Simple protocols are based on prostaglandin and progesterone, and complexes are derived from Ov-Synch, such as Co-Synch (5 and 7) Pre-Synch and J-Synch with or without modifications. These protocols are important in cattle production systems as meat, dairy, and mixed, and essentials as reproductive biotechnologies with their importance on animal breeding.
