Resumen
The growth of the economy currently has different perspectives that make note the evolution or stagnation of it. This document covers the point of view on the social and solidarity economy, which has a stake in local economic development as well as potentiating it in a dynamic that deeply involves the variables that highlight the social development of the regions, with the democratic participation and self-management while analyzing economic growth and the variables that determine it. Due to the foregoing, the seedbed of research in Economic and Agri-Food Development, assigned to the research group “Accounting and Economic Administrative Sciences” (CACE) through the research project “Solidarity Economy and Economic Growth” takes among other research references, the sugarcane in the department of Valle del Cauca - Cauca. The study focus in the research was descriptive and exploratory, taking as sources of information the thirteen sugar mills of which nine are in Valle del Cauca. Therefore, this study will show how sugar companies promote economic growth based on product innovation demonstrating sustainable product processes.
