Resumen
This work aims to carry out a study on the presentation of brucellosis in humans in Colombia through a descriptive review from 2005 to 2019. Establishing a literary review through the search and analysis of information published in articles and texts related to brucellosis, was collected from the different scientific and medical journals, where the information was selected, taking into account the reference to humans, and cases presented in Colombia in Spanish or English; 15 papers on human brucellosis were selected from the articles and studies reviewed, which were discussed. In addition, 15 more documents were taken into account, which provided important information to carry out this document. The studies carried out in Colombia of cases of brucellosis in humans were carried out in areas of the cattle population such as, Ipiales and Pasto Nariño, Cauca, Córdoba, Bolívar, Bogotá, Córdoba, Antioquia and Casanare. According to the documents analyzed, they show that occupations or jobs related to livestock areas are a risk factor since they are close to animals, such as workers in animal welfare plants, vaccinators, microbiologists, veterinary medicine students, zootechnicians, technicians agricultural and wages. From the information of the studies, seven (7) studies with an average prevalence of 1.8%, six (6) studies with an average seroprevalence of 8.5% and two studies with an average incidence of 5% were reported. In conclusion, this work demonstrates that Colombia has a latent occupational disease in professional staff that corresponds to the inappropriate use of biosafety implements when handling domestic and wild animals, becoming an occupational disease of non-mandatory notification for humans, affecting the health and physical integrity of many people.
