Engineering allows to make tangible almost any idea that arises in the imagination and more so when influences such determinants as place, time and forms that impact on loads that go directly applied to the floors with variable characteristics. Not all soils have the capacity to withstand the loads of the works that we wish to build on them. When the soils are of low support capacity, we proceed to change the dimensions of the surface foundations, to recommend deep foundations in soils with higher capacities, Make a stabilization of the soil from different methods, whether mechanical or chemical, adding materials that change their mechanical properties such as cohesion and friction. The objective of this research will be to study the methods of stabilization with cal and sediment of irrigation channels, using assertions found in the city of ibague, in order to provide the community with a representative table that will help the engineers in future projects to manage An optimum amount of lime or sediments of irrigation canals, related to the density, cohesion and friction of the material. In this proposal a first vision is given to the stabilization of lime and sediments of irrigation canals, based on the compilation of antecedent in the subject.
