Resumen
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a condition that is currently internationally recognized, given by numerous research conducted in the health context. These researches in their findings have emphasized the large percentage of the presence of this disorder in society, in people with official diagnosis, diagnostic and even more worrying impression who are not diagnosed by various incident factors, such as a lack of accountability and institutional commitment. This situation marks a worrying picture, even more so, with resolution 62/139 of 18 December 2007 of the United Nations General Assembly (UNO), which stipulates the commemorative date of 2 April as World Day of Awareness of Autism, highlighting that all the State, government, organization and other public and private sector bodies and even the community at large, are under an obligation to take affirmative action to raise awareness and address autism as a reality, generating greater guarantees in areas such as the provision of health services, education and other areas necessary for the improvement of their quality of life. However, even with this proclamation and the knowledge provided by scientific studies in relation to the clinical and therapeutic aspects that frame both diagnostic assessment and therapeutic approach, there are significant gaps that violate the rights of ASD holders. Even on the basis of the absence of a population base that accounted for the characterization of people with autism, an essential research process for the visibility and recognition of the population, which allows them to be included in the plans of government, public health policies and so on. In the context of the affirmative actions stated by the UN, the following report states the development of the research process 2190, entitled Characterization of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and its therapeutic approach in Colombia, which is under research director of the Cooperative University of Colombia headquarters Barrancabermeja with joint participation of other universities. Research that as the name implies is directed towards the population identification of people with the presence of Autism and the investigation of the therapeutic approach processes carried out in the framework of the diagnosis and treatment provided in various Colombia, including the territory of Arauca.
