Introuction: Political and social challenges originate in Colombia the need for Higher Education Institutions to incorporate in the training of human talent in health challenging education models that allow students to guarantee the increase in the quality of services provided to the population Objective: To identify the methodologies and pedagogical processes used by Higher Education Institutions in the training of health professionals in Colombia. Method: A qualitative study of a descriptive nature was carried out, where theoretical methods were used in order to perform the analysis and synthesis of documentary and bibliographic reviews on the subject that was the subject of this research. Results: The orientation of the pedagogical process in the training of health professionals in Colombia is given through pedagogical knowledge, practical knowledge and innovation in pedagogical practice with hetero-structuring, self-structuring and interstructuring methods respectively. Conclusions: It is necessary to promote in the student in health sciences educational models that allow him to identify structural relationships, predict changes by the continuation of processes and impact of external forces where the teacher stimulates reflective practice through authentic experiences.
