Resumen
Coffee producing organizations have opted for the initiative, to be part of fair trade, which is a system that promotes equity between suppliers and consumers, therefore, countries like Colombia and Mexico, see the opportunity in this proposal. Therefore, the objective of the research is to conduct a comparative analysis of coffee production practices and their relationship with fair trade: Case of Sevilla (Valle del Cauca, Colombia) and Cuetzalan (Puebla de Zaragoza, Mexico). In order to carry out the investigation it was necessary to investigate databases and statistical sources such as: INEGI, DANE, AGRONET and SAGARPA, in addition to fair trade cooperatives, selected by means of a discretionary sampling in both territories. The results obtained affirm that fair trade is a great support factor for coffee growers. Although, the countries are different, it is denoted that there are few differences in the implementation of this system and the benefits that this has to the coffee sector. In turn, it encourages producers to continue exercising agriculture. Likewise, the impact caused by this social movement depends on the environment where it manifests itself, providing progress to the development of a country.
