Resumen
INTRODUCTION: Societies face changes in the working world of professionals from different areas, derived from economic globalization and free market policies. OBJECTIVE: Analyze the working conditions and modalities of current professional practice of graduates of the orthodontic program. METHODOLOGY: Descriptive cross-sectional study involving 38 graduates of the orthodontic program, selected by non-probabilistic sampling. The information was collected through a previously validated survey. A univariate and bivariate analysis was conducted to explore the association between aspects of demographic and socioeconomic characteristics with working conditions and modalities of professional practice, through the H tests of Kruskal Wallis and U of Mann Whitney after verification of the assumption of normality with the Shapiro Wilk statistician. RESULTS: Out of 59 graduates 38 answered the survey, all participants claim to practice as orthodontists, less than 6 months for their labor insertion, an average income of 7,000,000 million per month, with workdays between 112 to 120 hours per month, with a hiring preponderant for the provision of services. CONCLUSIONS: The conditions of graduates of the specialty in orthodontics are favorable in certain aspects, such as insertion in the labor market. In addition, income is in a high range compared to the country's averages, but studies are required that expand the analysis of aspects of the types of hiring, hours worked and elements of labor flexibility that can be reflected in the conditions of Life of specialists.
