Introduction: The nasogastric catheterization is a basic procedure performed by the nursing staff consisting of the insertion of a probe through the nose in order to reach the stomach, this procedure is advisable to perform it in the intrahospital care to take into account the technique aseptic and be sure that you are in the place where you should be. Materials and methods: Narrative review of articles for the implementation of a protocol based on patient safety in the placement of the nasogastric tube, focused on providing better care, highlighting the importance of patient safety; thus identifying the contributory factors that arise in the different adverse events during the performance of the procedure. Results: Within the search of the articles that were found, it was possible to design a care protocol about the placement of the nasogastric tube focused on patient safety.
