Resumen
Interdiction is a legal process in which a person is declared incapable because of his inability to express thoughts and his will. This matter registers little evidence at the research level, for this reason this article was made with the main objective of describing the main elements such as its definition, characteristics, components and legal framework at national and international level; for this, databases such as Dialnet, Oxford, Proquest, Science Direct, Springer journal were reviewed; using keywords in Spanish such as interdiction and history, interdiction and psychology, interdiction and psychological disorders; They were also used for English words such as history of interdiction, interdiction and psychology. The results of the review show that the main causes for declaring subjects as injunctions are due to an incapacity resulting from the consumption of psychoactive substances, disorders such as dementia and other psychological disorders. Regarding regulations, in countries such as Chile, Mexico, Peru, Argentina and Colombia there are similarities in the execution of the process.
