Resumen
The WHO Healthy School strategy has been successfully applied in different contexts since its enactment in 1995. The project “bright smiles for peace path school”, takes up the postulates of this strategy with the objective of improving oral health conditions of the third-grade schoolchildren of this institution. A three-phase strategy, diagnosis, intervention and evaluation was proposed. The support of the academic community is essential for the successful development of the proposal. RESULTS: It was found that 66.7% of those responsible for the children were the mothers and the remaining were the parents. 79.2% of the parents surveyed, their level of schooling was primary or high school. Of 100% of children, 83.3% spend most of their time with their father and mother and 62.5% spend most of their time in school. Of the parents surveyed, 79.2% said they have knowledge about tooth decay and 87.5% said they know how and why tooth decay is formed. CONCLUSION: The level of knowledge of parents is an instrument to identify that of their children, so the approach that the strategies developed to preserve oral health in children, should include their parents is reinforced.
