Non-profit organizations have the challenge of achieving a coherent integration between their economic activity and the concept of corporate sustainability. To overcome this challenge, ESALs must face several difficulties related to the way in which this type of organizations understands, assumes and implements corporate sustainability in the development of their different economic activities.The first difficulty lies in the way many of these organizations interpret corporate sustainability, assuming it as a legal requirement or as a strategy to capture more market instead of identifying it as an integral concept to business management whose implementation will allow them to respond adequately to social and environmental requirements of its different interest groups through actions and processes that in turn will contribute to obtaining significant results in terms of competitiveness, innovation, development of new technologies and processes among others. This article analyze the opportunities that non-profit organizations belonging to the orange economy have in the construction of a strategic plan that allows them to improve their performance in the social, economic and environmental fields.
