Resumen
Solid waste management in large cities has become a priority issue when defining policies on issues of public health and environmental preservation. For this reason, governments dictate norms and laws that seek to facilitate the different entities, how the waste should be disposed in order to minimize the impact on the environment. The Cooperative University does not currently have a solid waste management plan in place, which complicates compliance with the laws and regulations dictated by the government. Among the problems observed are difficulties in making a separation at the source of the waste, this failure causes that the full potential of recycling products inside the campus is not exploited, causing negative impacts on the environment. The present study seeks to present a proposal for the construction of a solid waste storage room temporarily inside the campus, for which an approximate analysis of the current model of collection and storage of waste generated on campus was carried out. This study results in a budget and a design for a 16m2 booth area, seeking to comply with national regulations and bring the Cooperative University closer to achieving an efficient model for waste management inside the campus, and thus create a comfortable environment for all members of the institution.
