Depression is a multicausal problem that in recent years has been increasing worldwide, affecting people of all ages in the educational, family and social fields; The adolescent population is mostly affected by its symptoms and consequences, deteriorating its academic performance and quality of life. The objective of this Systematic Review was to determine what are the results of the research carried out both in Colombia and in the rest of the world in recent years, its results have been conglomerated for a practical tool for professionals in the educational area for the correct detection , remission and possible intervention to students presenting symptoms associated with depression, thus improving their academic performance and quality of life. The research was conducted investigating 66 scientific articles published in different journals and databases in Spanish, English and Portuguese, gathering as much information as possible regarding this problem. Finding multiple factors that gradually trigger depressive symptomatology in adolescence, affecting not only the school environment, but also several areas of adjustment and emotional and emotional development, impacting its effects on adult life.
