This research paper gives an account of a quasi-experimental process in which two groups are taken, one is the control group and the other one is the experimental one. This is carried in the municipality of Guayabetal, Cundinamarca in the Monseñor Alberto Reyes Fonseca Educational Institution with tenth grade students in the study of chemistry in the issue of gases and the laws that govern them. It is necessary to know that these students belong to a rural population with restricted access to their school laboratories, especially in winter. For this research, the critical learning of Moreira is taken into account, also, the students previous concepts and the way they appropriate the new knowledge. In the control group, the methodology applied is the use of traditional pen and paper and the laboratories that are carried out exclusively, and in the experimental group where the virtual laboratory strategy and simulations are applied, collecting as results for the analysis of the evaluations of the pretest and posttest to both groups and analyzing the results obtained, verifying as positive the hypothesis raised where it is presumed that technological tools such as virtual laboratories and simulators improve the learning of the topic gases in students and approaches to scientific thinking.
