The following study aimed to characterize the population through a quantitative and descriptive review was determined the demographic indicators is-timando the population of canines and felines in the commune 13 of Bucaramanga axis-cut by a door-to-door census through a survey conducted exclusively to people ow-ning pets in order to create a database to be used for research purposes. With the accomplishment of 186 surveys Obtaining as a result a total population of animals of the commune 13 of the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga of 340, distributed in 9 districts. The total of surveyed families 186 of which 70 their place of residence are apartments and 116 corresponded to house. Finding a total of 238 canines (70%) and 102 felines (30%) in question it was found that in the ca-nines the population of males is superior to females with a total of 124 males (52%) and 114 females (48%) as far as the felines the number of females surpas-ses that of males with a total of 55 females (54%) and 47 ma-chos (46%). The ma-jority of the registered pets are Creole. With respect to canine size, it was found that the median was higher with 42% followed by the small 34% and the large 24%. It was found that the majority of canines were sterilized (63%) both females and males and in a lower percentage 37% were unsterilized. As for felines it was observed that the number of unsterilized (82%) was higher with respect to the ste-rilized (18%).Of the 238 canines (45%) were animals between 1-4-9 years for the felines 102 (53%) was also higher in the range of 1-4-9 years, The state of anti-rabies vaccination was observed higher percentage in force with 91% in canines, 79% in felines and with lower percentages not in force 5% in canines, 17% feli-nes. The state of deworming was found to be higher quarterly percentage 52% followed semi-annually with 38%, annual 10% and higher with 5%; in felines also a higher proportion in dewormed quarterly 49% continued semi-annually with 28%, annual 12% and higher 11%; in terms of consulting the veterinarian once a year a high was obtained with 52% in dogs and 19% in cats, while those who do not consult the veterinarian once a year is lower 18%caninos -11% felines. 79% of canines and 78% of felines feed on concentrate with a lower proportion in other types of food. These results obtained are a fundamental instrument to contribute to the control of problems that may be triggered by a non-responsible ownership of the animals. concluding according to the findings of the present work it was observed that the human population has more affinity for the canines and not for the felines, as for the relation with the gender, there is a prevalence for males in dogs as for cats there is a greater predilection for females.
