The city of Ibagué over the years has allowed us to appreciate a large population growth, which contributes proportionally to the increase of vehicles and motorcycles that exceed the installed capacity of the existing road infrastructure, resulting in vehicular congestion with low operating speeds and deterioration of the road network, contributing to the environmental damage of the environment due to increased combustion gases in the air, auditory and visual pollution, restriction in pedestrian mobility, and consequences of accidents; conjugated to this there are flaws in signaling and lighting. The research was carried out with a descriptive methodological design, it was carried out in the central-southern area of the urban perimeter of Ibagué, where the problem described above is latent, and a high institutional use is combined (Universidad del Tolima, Sena, Cortolima, Registry Office of Public Instruments, Olympic Swimming Pools), commercial and residential use. Field work included vehicular and pedestrian gauging, inspection of affected areas, measurement of platforms and dividers, speed calculations, traffic light observation and road geometry elements. Through an analysis of road geometry, improvements in road connectivity are proposed with the implementation of cycle-lanes, the latter as an alternative means of transport, in conjunction with a sustainable and environmentally friendly road infrastructure that satisfies aspects economic, cultural, social and recreational to the city, which in turn will allow to take advantage of some of its potentials such as the flat-undulating topographic layout of the area, the availability of space to implement a cycle-lane that coexists with vehicles in safe conditions , integrated into an embellished environment with adequate urban equipment
