In this work, a concrete mix design is presented with cast iron filings as non-conventional and non-recyclable material; Being this, a residue coming from ornamentation processes, that in combination with the other components produce a concrete that meets the required specifications. The main objective is, therefore, to establish the optimal percentage of filings that guarantees an increase of the resistance with respect to the conventional mixtures for the construction of hoops - covers for wells of inspection of sewage for the city of Villavicencio - Meta according to technical characteristics of the standard NTC 1393. The research is carried out in three phases: obtaining filings, designing blends and conducting laboratory tests; Reaching an optimum design (established by means of calculations and checked by laboratory tests) by adding 30% of filings on the base mix (percentage of filings proportional to the amount of steel contained in a conventional lid). Finally, the cap modeling is performed based on the results obtained in the software "inventor" obtaining the effective resistance.
