Resumen
The purpose of this work is to determine the feasibility of partially replacing the hydraulic cement with sugarcane bagasse ash (CBCA) in the soil-cement for the stabilization of sub-grades. For this, the physical properties presented by the soil - cement were analyzed by adding CBCA. A series of laboratory tests were carried out which initially allowed to give a suitable characterization to the material with which it is desired to work (Granular Sub Base - Cantera la Caima), to subsequently subject different samples to tests of unconfined compression, CBR and wetting and dried Where it was possible to compare the properties of natural soil and when mixed with percentages of 3%, 5% and 7% of hydraulic cement; which was replaced by CBCA in percentages of 25%, 50% and 75%. The results evidenced a significant decrease in soil - cement properties by replacing hydraulic cement with CBCA, especially in CBR, in wear resistance and wetting, however in comparison with natural soil the properties did improve significantly with what we could determine that if the implementation of the CBCA for the improvement of the sub-grade is feasible, nevertheless it should be taken into account that the best use would be for the elaboration of the base and not of the sub-base taking into account the wear that the samples presented with the moistening and drying test.
