Currently, obesity (defined as an increase in body mass above 35 kg, and a serious public health problem was evident. According to (Aranceta, J., Pérez, R., & Fuentes, M. 2015) in Colombia its prevalence is estimated at 14%, demonstrating that it can affect the morbidity and mortality of the population.The present study aimed to identify the different coping strategies of morbidly obese patients, who are in a surgical process of bariatric surgery , the type of instrument that was implemented in the research was; the Inventory of Coping Estimation: COPE with Spanish adaptation Crespo, M & Cruzado, JA (1997). The main findings in the morbidly obese population were that the strategies with higher incidence are related to the search for support and need for acceptance.
