The present work is a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional study, whose objective is to determine the population and the zoo demographic characteristics of canines and felines in the homes of communes 7 and 17 of the city of Bucaramanga, Santander, obtaining the information concerning this through the use of a direct survey, of closed questions, carried out door to door, to the owners, holders or the personal assistant of the pets, to make a database that can be used for later projects. The canine and feline population of community 7 and 17 was estimated in 292 and 94 animals, respectively. In the case of commune 7, there were 222 canines and 70 felines; the 71% of households owned only dogs, 11% only owned cats and the 18% owned both species. In the case of commune 17, there were 17 canines and 77 felines, 24.1% of households were found to have only dogs, 65.5% had only cats and 10.3% had both species. In the case of the community, 7 in the results obtained for the canines, the males represented 50.9% and 49.1% females; males being only 1.80% higher. As for felines, the number of females was higher than males by 25.7%, females representing 62.9% of the population and males 37.1%. Likewise, for community 17, the classification by sex, in the case of canines, males represent 52.9% and females 47.1%, males being 5.8% higher, in terms of felines, the number of females was superior to males by 16.8%, females representing 58.4% of the population and males 41.6%. The zoo demographic indicators that refers to the composition by sex and age distribution of the canine and feline population of communes 7 and 17 of the municipality of Bucaramanga show a predominant inclination towards the possession of females in the case of felines and males in the case of the canines, however in general, the tendency was inclined to the possession of young animals.
