The soft skills are those that currently allow to gain a competitive advantage in the labor market, because they seek to strengthen the human being from personal components that contribute to generate optimal interpersonal relationships. The objective of the present study was to design a program for the strengthening of soft skills in the teachers of Colegio Las Américas through a pilot test in Barrancabermeja. In order to obtain the results, data collection techniques were used: social survey and focus group, which allowed a diagnosis to be made, identifying the soft skills that should be addressed in the teachers of the educational institution, which were: teamwork, problem solving, effective time management, leadership and effective communication. Based on these results, the program for strengthening these skills was established. The study achieved the participation of 100% of the teaching population and full compliance with the proposed activities, concluding that developing programs that contribute to the improvement of teachers' emotional intelligence, as actors with greater influence on students and the educational community in general, which could improve institutional quality. The findings of the study will allow the institution to direct its processes in search of continuous improvement and future research interested in the subject to take into account the present research for its implementation.
