This paper presents research and analysis of the costs of adverse events found in the months of July and August of EPS patients, service graduates of Internal Medicine Hospital of the accreditation IPS located in the city of Medellin as a tool for administrative and financial support for institutions, as well as an instrument of support to participate in continuous improvement and evaluation of the management system of quality and patient safety that have and develop health institutions. The paper argues in the review of medical records of discharged patients in the two months selected for the identification of adverse events and the total bill patients discharged for the differentiation of the costs of adverse events. And in the field work which is done by constructing a matrix that consolidates the details of the patients who experienced adverse events which took place with the identification and analysis of costs. Referring to the commitment of the group to find contributions that improve the quality of the activities related to patient safety and non-quality costs, this study provides a beginning to strengthening the administrative and financial approaches based on the QMS and achieving the social objectives of the institution.
