This master's thesis began with the development of a diagnostic study, through which it was determined that students in the sixth grade of secondary school of the Luz de la Esperanza College present difficulties in the reading process, reflecting a high degree of demotivation towards the reading. This problem is evidenced in the results of the SABER 2015, 2016 and 2017 tests; observing that the highest percentage of schoolchildren are at the minimum level of reading comprehension, characterized by not recovering explicit or implicit information in the content of the text, poor performance in reading comprehension and therefore have deficiencies in the development of their skills communicative. From this diagnosis, we reflected on the teachers' commitment to this situation. For this reason, a didactic strategy was designed entitled: “The portfolio”, in order to train readers, through ways of teaching different from the usual ones, through diverse evidences that in one way or another allow reading comprehension based on creativity , which require a teacher reader, mediator, dynamic and committed, who proposes a repertoire of questions, encouraging students to read and share experiences. Finally, this research invites teachers to integrate this didactic reading motivation strategy in their educational practices that strengthens communication skills, allows them to easily and adequately relate to others; enriches previous knowledge, improves their school performance and comprehensive training.
